About

All aboard the Great Trans-Siberian Express, for this year's most anticipated debut!

Mr B's is thrilled to announce an event featuring debut author Sarah Brooks, who will be discussing her captivating novel, "The Cautious Traveller's Guide to the Wastelands." This wildly imaginative tale transports readers back to the golden age of steam, filled with fantastical twists and turns.

Joining Sarah in conversation will be Natasha Pulley, a dear friend of the shop and acclaimed author of "The Watchmaker of Filigree Street," "The Half Life of Valery K," "The Mars House," and more.

Every book+ticket purchase for the event will include the Independent Bookshop edition of "The Cautious Traveller's Guide to the Wastelands," featuring signed copies with exclusive white boards, gold foiled detailing, and an exclusive bookmark—a must-have for any avid reader.

Set in the late 19th century, the novel introduces readers to the mysterious Wastelands, a treacherous terrain lying between Beijing and Moscow. Only the Great Trans-Siberian Express dares to traverse this forbidding wilderness, carrying a curious cast of characters aboard its impenetrable train. Among them are a grieving woman with a borrowed identity, a famous child born on the train, and a disgraced naturalist—all bound for the Great Exhibition in Moscow.

But as rumors of danger and unrest spread, the passengers and crew must band together to navigate the perils of the Wastelands. Secrets unravel, and stories collide as they confront the unknown, with something ominous lurking just beyond the horizon.

Don't miss this opportunity to embark on an unforgettable journey through "The Cautious Traveller's Guide to the Wastelands" with Sarah Brooks and Natasha Pulley at Mr B's. Join us as we explore the realms of fantasy and adventure in this enthralling debut novel.
