Jane Austen's Home
Jane Austen's Home
Bath and beyond offers a wide range of accommodation. Stay in a hotel or guest house located in the grand Georgian terraces or enjoy a stay in the countryside surrounding Bath where Jane herself would often enjoy walking.
A visitor in the early 19th Century said "lodgings are not only very numerous, but are distinguished for the elegance, convenience and comfort which they afford visitors", and the same could be said of the accommodation in Bath today.
Here are some of our favourite lodgings...
Jane Austen fans can stay in the very same residence where Jane herself once lived in the early 1800s, Jane Austen's Home is an 18th century Georgian apartment overlooking The
Holburne Museum, and often used as a location for period films due to its unusual width and untouched stunning architecture.
The 5 star Royal Crescent Hotel is located at the centre of the Royal Crescent which was built between 1768-75. To promenade in front of the Royal Crescent was a popular pastime for Jane.
Dukes Hotel and the Kennard Hotel are both Georgian townhouses located just off Great Pulteney Street, Bath's longest and widest Georgian street.
Bathwick Gardens was used by the BBC when filming Jane Austen's Persuasion. This elegant Regency townhouse overlooks Sydney Gardens, just as the Austen household did when living in Sydney Place between 1801 and 1804.
Stay in the Jane Austen room at the Tasburgh House where you can enjoy spectacular views.
However Jane Austen was a rural girl at heart and if you enjoy the fresh air and countryside walks stay on a farm. The Beeches Farmhouse is an idyllic 18th century farmhouse located a few miles from Bath.
