Bath Christmas Market - the best festive shopping event in the south west

14th October 2010

Bath Christmas Market

Dates Extended for 2010:  25 November – 12 December

Set in the stunning surroundings of Bath’s historic centre, right next to Bath Abbey and the World renowned Roman Baths, Bath Christmas Market is the ‘not to be missed’ Christmas shopping event - and now with an additional week of festivities, it really is unmissable!

Due to popular demand, Bath’s extremely popular Christmas market, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, has been extended by an extra week into December, providing you with more time to enjoy the festive atmosphere and top quality shopping.  With the dates extending closer to Christmas, you now have the opportunity to enjoy the event at your leisure, whilst stocking up on everything you need for a fantastic Christmas.

Bath Christmas Market makes Christmas shopping a pleasure.  With more than 120 local and regional retailers offering their wares in quaint wooden chalet style stalls, you have the perfect opportunity to acquire that perfect Christmas gift.  Whether you are looking for traditional wooden toys, unique jewellery, personalised gifts, tasty foodie fayre or handmade homewares, you will find something for everyone here.  With festive music, street entertainment and the aroma of roasted nuts and Gluhwein on the air adding to the atmosphere, there couldn’t be a better way for you to ease into your Christmas celebrations.

With such a central location, you can also extend your shopping out of the market site and into the city’s neighbouring shopping streets, where you will find a plethora of high street names and designer boutiques.  The newly reopened Southgate development - with its host of high street favourites, and Milsom Street - named the ‘Most Fashionable Street in the UK’ (Google Streetview Awards 2010) are highlights not to be missed.

You could also combine your visit to Bath Christmas Market with a visit to one of the city’s many visitor attractions.  For example the Roman Baths have been enticing visitors to the city for over 2000 years, and Thermae Bath Spa offers the chance to bathe in the naturally warm water on which the city was founded – as well as the chance to ease those weary legs!

There are a number of events happening in the city at the same time as Bath Christmas Market 2010, which you may wish to combine with your shopping – Bath Abbey, which is right next to the Christmas Market offer regular shoppers carol services which always prove extremely popular.  The Jane Austen Centre presents Jane Austen’s Regency Christmas, and the American Museum in Britain starts its popular ‘Christmas at Claverton’ celebrations.

However you choose to fill your time alongside Bath Christmas Market, you are sure to have a great time, as well as stocking up on all of your Christmas gifts and festive essentials.  Just a day may not be enough, so why not give yourself a wonderful Christmas present - stay in Bath and enjoy a well earned break prior to starting your Christmas preparations in earnest.
