Milsom Street voted Britain's best fashion street
8th March 2010
Google has today announced the winners of the Google Street View Awards, a celebration of Britain’s best-loved streets. Milsom Street in Bath has won the ‘Best Fashion Street’ in Britain category as voted for by the public in a nationwide poll.
Over 11,000 people voted within a three week period from Monday 8th - Sunday 28th February. Competition was fierce and historic Milsom Street was selected for a shortlist of 20 streets in the country by a panel of experts including fashion designer, Jeff Banks, and Jo Elvin, editor at Glamour Magazine.
Robin Bischert, chief executive of Bath Tourism Plus said: "We are proud that Milsom Street in Bath has been voted 'Best Fashion Street' in Britain".
Mr Bischert continued: "Bath offers an eclectic mix of independent and top high street brands. The Georgian backdrop makes the city a very special place to shop and the retail economy in Bath is thriving. This award is a tribute to all the hard work of retailers in Milsom Street. We get very positive comments about the personal and friendly service in shops in Bath".
The www.visitbath.co.uk website has a dedicated section to shopping in Bath providing a full guide to shops that can’t be missed, shopping itineraries, maps and shopping events.
An event celebrating shopping - Bath in Fashion - will be coming to the city next month and will feature catwalks, in store events, makeover sessions and a Gala Ball in the Pump Room. Bath in Fashion will take place from 14th to 17th April.
