Tantalise your taste buds at the Bath Food & Drink Festival

18th June 2010

A brand new festival will be coming to Bath this summer featuring the very best West Country food and drink.  The Bath Food & Drink Festival will take place on 3rd and 4th July in Royal Victoria Park and will be packed with delicious food and drink with over 130 local and regional exhibitors, leading local chefs providing demonstrations, a selection of real ales and ciders, and a Wine Theatre and a Champagne Garden Bar.  Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Abbey Churchyard or by calling 0844 8475256.

Chef demonstrations - listen and learn
Antonio Carluccio, the popular and respected Italian cookery writer, will cook up a storm of genuine, regional Italian food that will inspire your taste-buds.  Regarded as the Godfather of Italian gastronomy, this is an experience not to be missed!  Throughout the festival leading local chefs including Martin Blunos, Richard Bertinet, Hywel
Jones and Rachel Demuth will also be creating delicious dishes using regional ingredients.

Thirst Quenching - Real Ale, Cider & Wine
There will be over ten brewers at the festival including Bath’s very own Abbey Ales, North Cotswold Brewery and Cotswold Spring Brewery.  For cider fans, the Cider Garden is a must!  Refreshing drinks will be supplied by Gaymer Cider Company including its Premium Selection of Addlestones, Gaymers' Orchard Reserve and Gaymers' County Series Ciders.  The Festival will also be offering the chance for you to join the experts and take part in an informal tutored wine tasting - develop an understanding and a greater appreciation about wine, and find out about wines from the old to the new world.

A glass of fizz at the Champagne Garden Bar
Enjoy a glass of fizz and try Premier and Grand Cru champagnes in the
Jarvis St James Champagne Garden - an exclusive corner of the Royal Victoria Park.  Sample the finest glass of champagne or sample the full decadent experience and share a perfectly chilled bottle on ice.

Live entertainment
Live music from local bands will provide entertainment with rhythm and blues by The Ones, acoustic indie/folk by Silver Campervan as well as a number of other acts playing boogie woogie, 60’s funk and jazz and blues.

Chris Astbury head of marketing at Bath Tourism Plus said: “There’s so much quality food and drink produced right on our doorstep and this event is the perfect opportunity for Bath and the surrounding area to showcase what we have to offer.  We are sure that this will be a popular event and have already sold a good number of tickets, although as we get nearer to the event, we expect interest and ticket sales to increase”.
