BTP heads to North America in a tourism drive to promote Bath

Bath Tourism Plus (BTP) will meet with influential travel trade contacts in New York and Toronto next week in a drive to attract more American and Canadian visitors to Bath.  The event is the largest of its kind in North America and is an opportunity for North American travel buyers and British tourism providers to meet face-to-face.

The travel trade attendees will be product development decision makers from key leisure, group & special interest tour operators - all with proven business to Britain. 

Attendance at the events forms part of an overseas marketing campaign that BTP has recently launched.  The campaign will target North America - one of Bath’s key markets - with a range of activities including familiarisation visits for media and trade, e-newsletters, working with Visit Britain, targeting American media, a dedicated brochure about Bath for travel trade, and attendance at the Visit Britain Marketplace events next week. 

Head of marketing at Bath Tourism Plus, Chris Astbury will attend the Visit Britain Marketplace events from 4th to 7th October and will have one-to-one appointments with over 60 key contacts including travel agents, group organisers, and educational and luxury holiday buyers.  In addition there will be numerous networking sessions providing an opportunity to promote Bath to a wide variety of travel buyers.  

Chris Astbury said: “North America is a key market for Bath and attendance at these major events will be invaluable to promote the city and the surrounding area to such a number and variety of people.  Visit Britain Marketplace provides an excellent opportunity for us to showcase Bath and forge closer relationships with travel trade professionals and thereby encourage more Americans to visit Bath in the future”.
