Bath Christmas Market searches for local businesses to trade at 2011 event

10th March 2011

Local businesses who can offer quality and unique products to sell at Bath Christmas Market are being encouraged to apply for the 2011 event.  The organisers, Bath Tourism Plus, are searching for new traders to keep the popular event fresh and exciting for visitors.

Bath Christmas Market provides a fantastic opportunity for suitable businesses to sell their products to a huge number of potential visitors.  Last year Bath Christmas Market attracted around 300,000 visitors from all over the UK.  The event has grown to become one of the most well respected Christmas markets in the UK.

Charlotte Buckley, events executive at Bath Tourism Plus says: “We’re encouraging new retailers to apply for stalls at this year’s event.  The focus is on local products and businesses so we’re really keen to hear from potential traders in and around Bath”.

Set in the centre of the bustling city centre retail area, against a stunning backdrop of the famous Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, the 2011 market will consist of 129 wooden chalets, occupied by retailers offering high quality goods for sale for the festive season.

All traders must complete an application for a chalet - with preference given to local, handmade or fair-trade products.  The team who select the retailers are also keen to ensure a good mix of high quality products including Christmas decorations, gifts, toys, jewellery, clothing and food products, all at a range of prices.

Robin Bischert, chief executive at Bath Tourism Plus says: “From the feedback we have received from stallholders at the 2010 Bath Christmas Market, the event was very successful and we have already received 77% of applications for this year.  We feel that this is a good measure of the success stallholders have in meeting their sales and marketing objectives and it also shows potential businesses, who may be interested in taking part, that Bath Christmas Market provides a great opportunity to sell to a huge number of people”.

Provisional dates for the 18 day event are 24 November - 11 December*.  To find out more about applying for a chalet at the Bath Christmas Market, telephone 01225 396417, or visit: www.bathchristmasmarket.co.uk.  The deadline for applications is 31 March 2011.
