Record numbers discover Bath as tourism website celebrates highest visits
8th September 2011
Bath Tourism Plus (BTP) is celebrating record numbers to its website www.visitbath.co.uk since it was established almost ten years ago. A quarter of a million people visited the official tourism website in August - a 30% increase on the previous year.
As well as providing valuable information on all aspects of visiting Bath and the surrounding area, the website has an extensive accommodation section providing visitors with the option to book online. The number of people who booked accommodation online in August 2011 increased by 5%.
It has also been a very positive month for BTP’s social media activity following a recent campaign to raise Bath’s profile on social networking websites. BTP now has just over 4,000 followers on Twitter and Facebook with numbers continuing to rise.
The VisitBath.co.uk website attracts almost two million visits every year with this number expecting to rise by the end of 2011.
David Jackson, head of marketing at Bath Tourism Plus, said: “With over 450 businesses now members of Bath Tourism Plus, the website provides an information-packed resource for those looking to arrange a break to Bath and the surrounding area. Social media and our VisitBath.co.uk website will increasingly be at the heart of our marketing activity. By continually reviewing and updating the content and navigation of Visitbath.co.uk we aim to build on our position as one of the most successful destination websites in the country.
