Film Friendliness Training
Bath & North East Somerset has gained an excellent reputation for local authority handling of film. This is recognised not just by the media industry but also by the British Government. In 1998, 'Tomorrow's Tourism' was published by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and in one of its case studies, the Bath Film Office was quoted as a local authority model, and included in examples of good practice for dealing with the practicalities of filming, and maximising the economic benefits.
As a result, the Bath Film Office has devised a training programme 'for local authorities by a local authority'. In 2003 it was successfully trialled in the South West with co-funding from South West Screen. The programme can provide a seminar for regional local authority personnel or a day of individual mentoring designed to pass on core information and systems.
