Mayor's Honorary GuidesThe Mayor's Honorary Guides offer free walking tours providing an excellent historical and architectural introduction to the city of Bath. Alternatively, you can see the area from a different perspective on a boat trip along the River Avon. Tickets start from around £5.

Bath Attractions on a Budget

Spend the morning at the Victoria Art Gallery. Entry is free and you can enjoy the work of many leading artists from the 15th century to the present day. Before lunch, explore the striking Bath Abbey, the last of the great medieval churches of England and well-worth a visit. A donation of £2.50 is welcomed to visit the church. Or, for just £5 you can take the new tower tour and climb up to the very top of the Abbey.

Royal Victoria ParkLocated in the heart of the city, Royal Victoria Park is the perfect setting to have a break, relax and enjoy a picnic at lunch time. Treat the kids and pack a hamper with some delicious local food from one of the many superb delicatessens in the city.

Bath is the only city in Britain with natural hot springs, so spend the afternoon surrounded by water. No visit is complete without learning about the Roman Baths and for just £15, you can buy a joint-entry ticket to the Roman Baths and Fashion Museum. Or, you can try a glass of the hot spa water at the Pump Room for just 50p a glass.

Thermae Bath SpaEnjoy a pampering spa session at the Thermae Bath Spa, the only spa in the country where you can bathe in natural thermal waters. If you're on a budget, the twilight package, available Sunday - Friday after 4pm, offers visitors the chance to purchase a 3-hour spa session for £39.00. It includes a delicious, light meal in the Springs Cafe & Restaurant, a glass of wine or lager and complimentary use of towel, slippers and robe.

In the evening, be entertained at the Theatre Royal. The year-round programme has 40 standby tickets available to purchase on the day of every performance. Standby tickets are £5 each and once sold, standing places can be purchased for just £3.
