Bath's Fashion History
Bath has attracted fashionable society for more than two hundred years. People came to Bath in Georgian times not only to bathe in the thermal waters but to admire the latest fashions. In Jane Austen's day, Milsom Street was a favourite place to shop. Jolly's was established here in the 1820's and was among the first department stores in the country. Today, it houses the leading retailer House of Fraser, but still retains much of the original character. If your interest in fashion is more than skin deep, then head for the Fashion Museum located in the Assembly Rooms, which houses one of the best collections of contemporary and historic fashion in the world.
