About

Basecamp is a family campsite in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills. Surrounded by ancient woodland, the spacious campsite is perfect for families, small groups and adventurers seeking a UK based holiday or weekend away.

Hidden high on the Mendip Hills, this is the perfect base to explore Somerset, Bath, Bristol and the South West.  Mendip Basecamp is open from the May half term onwards and all bookings can be made online

This “nearly wild” campsite has all the freedom of wild camping with acres of space and a family orientated feel with the added luxury of flushing toilets and hot showers. Other features include:

Mendip Lodge
Our licensed country lodge is open until late every day and is just a short walk from camp. The best local beers, cooked breakfasts, loaded fries and stone-baked pizzas.

Safari-style tents & bunk rooms available
If you’re not a camper, Basecamp has bunk tents and bunk rooms available to hire. Book a steel framed bunkhouse tent for up to six people, or an indoor lodge room for up to 9 people. Just bring a sleeping bag!

Outdoor adventure activity centre
The campsite is in the heart of Mendip Activity Centre. Activities are not compulsory but if you’re feeling adventurous, choose from frisbee golf, skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, climbing, caving, kayaking, archery and more.
