Beer may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Bath, but the city has more than its fair share of breweries, craft beers bars and pubs where you can enjoy a perfectly poured pale ale.
If you’re keen to try some locally-made beverages, take a tour around the James Street Brewery at The Bath Brew House where signature beers Emperor and Gladiator are brewed alongside a range seasonal cask and keg beers. Once you've sampled some beers, stick around for some tasty pub grub such as ale battered haddock & chips.
Want to explore a local distillery? Pop into the taproom at Electric Bear to enjoy their modern craft beers straight from the source. After sampling what’s on tap, take away a growler of your favourite or choose a selection of cans or bottles.
You can also find wares from local brewery Abbey Ales at the Coeur de Lion, The Star Inn, The Trinity and The Assembly Inn, all of which stock a range of great cask ales for you to try.
The city also has several dedicated craft beer shops and bars, such as Beercraft of Bath, which offers 10 beers on tap & over 500 different beers from both local producers and breweries from around the world on the shelves, so you’re sure to find something you like!
You can also enjoy a Platform 3 IPA from the microbrewery at Graze where you can take your pint out to the terrace overlooking Bath Spa Train Station, and pair it with a beautifully cooked steak or hearty sandwich. This chophouse is run by Bath Ales who have a brewery just outside Bath, a great location for a day trip if you want to tick another local beer tour off your list!
