The Great Outdoors
Wherever you are in Bath, you are never far from a beautiful green space to walk your dog. This harmony of countryside and city has been recognised by Bath’s designation as a World Heritage Site.
If you are staying in the city centre, Royal Victoria Park is only a stone’s throw away and has plenty of space for a game of fetch. In fact, the parkland spans 57 acres! Originally an arboretum, it is still home to beautiful botanic gardens and the Great Dell Aerial Walkway. Victoria Park is there to be enjoyed year-round. You can even stop for a coffee and a bite to eat at the Pavilion Café.
For those wishing to venture a little further, why not try the National Trust’s Bath Skyline Walk? Bringing to life Bath’s panoramic ‘countryside in the city’ views, it's gaurenteed to impress. Not only that, it's designed to be really rewarding and highly accessible: easy to find, easy to follow and doable in only one-and-a-half hours.
Access the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal via Sydney Gardens. The canal weaves it way through the valley to Bradford-on-Avon and beyond, or as far as your legs can carry you! The path is one of Britain’s most popular long-distance, waterside cycling and walking routes.
For something a little different, the Two Tunnels offers a walking and cycle track through two disused railway tunnels, one over a mile long! This relatively flat route gives you a wonderful view of Bath's Georgian crescents before it leaves the city behind.
Planning Your Big Day?
If you're looking for the perfect place to tie the knot and can't stand the idea of being without your canine companion on the big day, Bath has you covered.
Heritage Park Weddings have three unique, dog-friendly wedding venues located in Bath’s much-loved parks. They are The Temple of Minerva in the Botanical Gardens, Royal Victoria Park Bandstand and the Bandstand and Riverside Colonnades in Parade Gardens. Couples, or their guests, can bring their furry friends along to the ceremony. They could even be your ring bearer!
