Bristol, Bath and surrounding areas have proven the perfect setting for some of film and television’s most popular programmes. Hop on a train or bus to discover where Sherlock, Bridgerton and Broadchurch were filmed, perhaps over a multi-day trip.

Bridgerton

In Bath (regular train services between Bristol and Bath) head for The Holburne Museum (open daily from 10am to 5pm, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 11am). Bridgerton fans may recognise it as Lady Danbury’s mansion.

Don’t miss the beautiful Georgian arc of terraced houses that make up the Royal Crescent, it’s the filming location for the outside of the Featherington family home. Sherlock

Travel from Bath to Bristol by train to pick up the trail of Sherlock, the BBC hit, following Film Bristol’s Sherlock Trail. Many of the locations, including King Street, Queen Square, Cathedral Square and Colston Hall, are within easy walking distance of each other.

Catch a bus to Arnos Vale Cemetery, which featured in the Abominable Bride episode – bus numbers 1, 57 and 349 stop close by. You could also catch the X6 bus from The Centre in Bristol to Tyntesfield, to explore the stunning National Trust property (open daily) which also appeared in The Abominable Bride.

Broadchurch

Catch the X6 or X7 buses from The Centre in Bristol to the Victorian seaside town of Clevedon in North Somerset, where parts of the crime drama Broadchurch were filmed.

Follow the Broadchurch Trail map to discover ten of the programme’s filming locations, including the Marine Lake, Clevedon Pill, St Andrew’s Church, and the clifftop Walton Park Hotel.
