There are plenty of family-friendly events and activities to keep everyone entertained in Bath and beyond this February half term, whatever the weather! 

Head indoors at one of Bath's magnificent museums or galleries to see the latest exhibitions and special family activities for half term, or see what family-friendly shows are on at The Egg - Michael Rosen's We're Going on a Bear Hunt is on from 14 - 18 February.

If you want to explore more of Bath, book onto a guided walk, or do you own self-guided tour with a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt app!

Family fun at Bath's top attractions

Discover the quirky side of Roman life at The Roman Baths, where children can listen to a kids-only audio guide narrated by Michael Rosen, or meet costumed characters as they explore the historic site. Kids can also dig for artefacts in the Archaeology Adventures sessions, which must be booked in advance.

Jump-start your February half term at Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein, with two themed Escape Rooms, a brand new Monster's Bride (In a Box!) escape game, and a creepy walkthrough basement experience for those who dare! The attraction is open daily and offers great discounts for students, families and groups.

Join in with the Museum of East Asian Art's Lunar New Year celebrations at The Holburne Museum, or see a special Lunar New Year Planetarium Show at Bath Central Library.

Kids can get crafty in special workshops at No.1 Royal Crescent, The Holburne Museum, and Victoria Art Gallery, all of which also have brand new exhibitions to explore. 

Beyond Bath

There's a new Room on the Broom trail at Westonbirt Arboretum, Lambing Live at Avon Valley Adventure Park, America 250 celebrations at The American Museum & Gardens, and a special Junior Keeper Experience at The Bird of Prey Project.

Hop aboard one of the vintage steam trains at Avon Valley Railway for half price throughout half term, and enjoy a scenic journey through the countryside to an old chocolate factory, with an appropriately chocolatey treat along the way! 

Outside the city, enjoy a fun-filled day out at Wookey Hole, where you can venture underground in the caves, watch a new film in the 4D cinema, marvel at a circus show in the theatre, challenge each other to a game of adventure golf, and savour a meal in the on-site restaurant.

At the nearby Cheddar Gorge and Caves, journey back in time and learn more about wooly mammoths, with special exhibits and mammoth-themed activities, plus live Stone Age fire and tool-making demonstrations.

Fancy a more hands-on caving experience? Take on the Wild Wookey challenge, or try one of Cheddar Gorge's Rocksport Adventure Activities. 

Build your wackiest creations in LEGO Brick Week at Longleat, or challenge each other to a race remote-control cars at Haynes Motor Museum. 

Winter Walks and Trails

There's also ample opportunity to stretch your legs in the great outdoors around Bath this half term.

Take the kids to meet the resident deer herd and go nature-spotting at Dyrham Park, follow the outdoor family trails at the American Museum and Westonbirt Arboretum, or bask in a beautiful snowdrop display at The Bishop's Palace in Wells.
