About

Immerse yourself in nature at Mendip Basecamp, an award-winning family adventure campsite just 30 minutes from Bristol. Set in the heart of the Mendip Hills, Basecamp is widely recognised as one of the top campsites in the South West, having won Silver at the VisitEngland Awards in 2025.

Camping at Mendip Basecamp is designed to feel relaxed and flexible, whether you’re a seasoned camper or giving it a go for the very first time. Pick your pitch, park close by, and check-out when it suits. Enjoy fresh air, open space, campfires, and starry skies - with the option to add a little extra adventure.

Alongside the simple joys of camping, Mendip Basecamp offers extra experiences you can choose to add on to your stay. Located within Mendip Activity Centre, you’ll have access to over 25 outdoor activities - from affordable, self-led adventures like Frisbee Golf to instructor-led experiences including Climbing, Tobogganing, Caving and Kayaking.

Mendip Basecamp is an off-grid site, but that doesn’t mean disconnected! You’ll find free WiFi, USB charging, hot showers, flushing toilets, a camp cafe, and a bar - facilities that make camping feel comfortable and confidence-boosting.  Plus, dogs are welcome, and fire pits encouraged!

New for 2026: Mendip Mini Fests. As part of their Summer of Entertainment, Mendip Basecamp is hosting six mini festivals across summer holiday weekends. They are designed to be relaxed, family-friendly mini festivals included in the ticket price, featuring live music, storytelling, workshops, and more.

When you’re ready to explore further afield, Mendip Basecamp is perfectly placed to explore Bristol and beyond. Cheddar Gorge, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, and Bath are all within easy reach, along with iconic Somerset landscapes, coastal walks and seasonal events like the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Many guests, however, find there’s more than enough to do without ever moving the car.
