With natural thermal water at its heart, Bath is a true spa destination renowned for making people feel good.

As well as bathing as a means of relaxation and rejuvenation, one key aspect of maintaining wellbeing is of course physical exercise. Take a look at Thermae Bath Spa's five ways to get active in Bath…

1. Gently Does It

Not up for too much exercise? Spectating might just be the thing for you. There’s no shortage of events to choose, from Bath Rugby fixtures at the Rec to events at Bath Racecourse. There are plenty of ways to get involved if you’re looking for a more ‘gentle’ way to stay active!

2. Step Up The Pace

If spectating gives you an appetite for some exercise of your own, perhaps start with something moderate. Game for golf? Try Victoria Falls Adventure Golf, located in leafy Royal Victoria Park with the Royal Crescent as its backdrop.

Summer’s Bath Boules event has made the game a Bath institution – the pitches in Queen Square are available all year-round.

3. Get The Heart Racing

For more of an intense workout, the Sports Training Village at the University of Bath is one of the finest sports facilities in the West Country, and there are many local gyms in the centre such as the Better Sports & Leisure Centre. You could also head to Royal Victoria Park for a knock-about at Excel Tennis.

4. On Your Marks, Get Set…

After a challenge? Test your abilities at the Bath Half, the city’s largest running event with at least 11,000 competitors each year. There’s also a weekly 5km Parkrun along the Bath Skyline every Saturday at 9am.

Why not utilise some pedal power with a ride along the Two Tunnels Greenway? Hire a nextbike to take you on the scenic 13-mile route, or take part in Bike Bath – a one-day summer event with routes of varying lengths to choose from.

5. Take In The Views

Feel revitalised with a Bath Skyline ramble – the six-mile National Trust walk features natural landscapes and elevating views, and is also said to burn off the recommended calories for a whole week’s physical activity! Bath also has its own walking festival each September, Bathscape, with a variety of routes for all.

You could also head onto the water and hire a canoe, kayak or punt from the Bath Boating Station.
