About
Bath History and Scandals Tours (formerly known as Bath Regency Walking Tours) provide an informative, and more importantly, an entertaining day-time walking tour of the beautiful city of Bath.
There is available today, a multitude of walking tours to choose from in Bath, and they will all do a very good job of showing visitors the city, the main sights and indeed provide very similar information regarding the important dates and names etc. The people at Bath History and Scandals Tours will do all of this and indeed show you the Bridgerton sites as well. But far more than this, it is the scandals, the dirty secrets and the colourful human story behind the development of Bath that makes this tour, completely different. Every building has a story to tell and a scandal behind the stones, join the Bath History and Scandals Tour and you will discover them all.
Bath is known to have been, quite literally, the Las Vegas of the 18th Century. A city that was full of gambling, intrigue, famous faces and entertainment of all descriptions. The very rich rubbed shoulders with the very poor, and everyone was looking to make a name or a fortune for themselves. The city itself, it could be argued, was re-built specifically as a playground for the rich and aspiring. There are layers upon layers of history and stories along these stunning streets, the details of which will amaze and in some cases, shock you, but all of them will entertain you. Huzzah for the Bath History and Scandals Tours!
The tours are available to book publicly between June and October on Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sundays. There are 2 tours available on each of the days, at 11.15am and later at 1.45pm. The tours last for approximately 105 minutes and begin at the meeting point in the Abbey Churchyard/Courtyard area, next to the main entrance of the Bath Abbey. The group sizes on the tours can range between 2 and 30 people, so as long as there are just 2 people, the tour will go ahead. The tours operate in all weathers so please check the forecast and dress accordingly. Prices for 2022 are adults - £13 and student/child - £9. The tour is suitable for all the family, for even though some of the scandals are indeed quite shocking, the details of such will be left somewhat vague when there are children on the tour. There will be a member of staff waiting at the meeting point before each tour, who will be easy to find, and attendees are asked to gather for their tour a good 10 mins before the tour begins. Full details of the tours etc can be found on the dedicated website.
