Bristol to Bath Cycle Path

About

Managed by the Avon Frome Partnership, The Bristol and Bath Cycle Path is a 13-mile off-road route between the cities of Bristol and Bath.

The Bristol to Bath Cycle Path is open to walkers and cyclists and access is provided for disabled users. This lovely easy walk, or ride, is many things to many people - an integral commuting route, an attractive leisure path and an important wildlife corridor.

In the Saltford area particularly, be sure to look out for woodpeckers, cormorants, kingfishers and herons.

The Bristol and Bath Cycle Path was constructed on the track bed of the former Midland Railway which closed for passenger traffic at the end of the 1960's. Between 1979 and 1986, the railway line was converted into the railway path that you will see today.

Some of the charming former stations along the path are still popular stopping points. They are also a source of historical interest - especially to any rail enthusiasts.

The path is a tarmacked surface and three metres wide from end to end. Along the route you can discover some fascinating history, visit intriguing places, connect to other walks and even refresh yourself at several points along the way.
