About

Did you know that in 1997 just 11 booming male Bitterns were recorded in the whole country? Now more then this are recorded on RSPB Ham Wall every year and they have been breeding here since 2008.

Join for a guided walk listening out for the booming call of male Bitterns as they try and attract a mate. You'll keep an eye out for Bitterns flying overhead and try and spot them in the reeds as they use their camouflage and standing still for long periods of time to blend in.

Discover more about the habits of the elusive Bittern, the history of RSPB Ham Wall and the conservation work undertaken to help restore homes for Bitterns.
