You are here: What's On > Seasonal Events > May School Holidays in Bath
There's plenty of fun for all the family this May half term in Bath, with venues in and around the city offering a wide range of special events and activities to keep everyone entertained.
Step into the wild world of global Internet sensation Mr Doodle at The Holburne Museum, where the beautiful 18th-century building has provided a fabulous blank canvas for the artist's trademark 'graffiti spaghetti' artwork, taken straight from the pages of his personal sketchbooks. Alongside the exhibition, the Holburne are spreading the creative spirit with free 'Doodle & Draw' trails, available everyday from the front desk, encouraging you to show off your own doodling talents!
Travel back in time to experience the colourful sights and sounds of Toulouse-Lautrec's Bohemian Paris at the Victoria Art Gallery. This one-off exhibition of Lautrec's complete poster collection in the UK is your chance to explore the artist's most famous works up close, from the cancan dancers of 'La Troupe de Mademoiselle Eglantine,' to the iconic image of Parisian nightlife in the 1890s, 'At The Moulin Rouge.' Don't miss fun family trails and crafting activities too!
Keep the kids' imaginations ticking with themed hands-on activity sessions at Bath's award-winning museums. At The Roman Baths, they can have a go at making their own Roman writing tablet from plasticine and card after exploring the museum, or get involved in No.1 Royal Crescent's giant collaborative 'conversation piece' collage, inspired by Georgian art.
Head out of the city centre on a family adventure at one of the many attractions on Bath's doorstep. See if you can find the eight animals hidden in the garden on Prior Park's endangered animal trail, go for an American Road Trip at the American Museum, or walk among dinosaurs at Dinosaur Valley: Live at Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park.
You'll find more dinosaurs at Wookey Hole, in addition to the stunning eponymous cave network, adventure golf course, vintage penny arcades, 4D cinema, and soft play zones. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a brand-new moon installation to marvel at in one of the caves, plus incredible shows in the on-site theatre, including a Wild West-themed circus performance and fun magic and illusion show Magique.
There's also the annual Royal Bath & West Show in nearby Shepton Mallet, featuring its usual action-packed programme of captivating live entertainment, artisan food and drink, animal displays and much more, making for the perfect British family day out.
Back in Bath city centre, the whole family is sure to love the acclaimed stage adaptation of best-selling novel Life of Pi at the Theatre Royal, where jaw-dropping visuals and puppetry bring the story of a boy stranded on a lifeboat with a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and Royal Bengal tiger to life.
The May school holidays are also the perfect time of year to enjoy the gorgeous green spaces and countryside around Bath in the spring sunshine.
