About

Upper Vobster Farm offers a selection of award winning fully equipped self-catering luxury Somerset cottages and accommodation. A variety of unique, boutique studios and cottages, each with its own front door, they also have the capacity to hold events of all kinds, whether family reunions and celebrations, residential workshops and courses, business meetings or simply one-off gatherings. And if the weather’s good you can gather round the firepit.

Upper Vobster Farm is a unique country property, a family home that has grown and evolved over the years and been extended to share with others. The land surrounding the farm is rich in history and situated near the historic village of Mells, 13 miles from the Roman city of Bath and close to Babington House.

Other places to visit include Longleat, Stourhead, Lacock, Wells, Glastonbury and Frome, especially on market day. The original house was built in the 16th Century and is set in the unspoilt English countryside overlooking Shipperidge Wood, which is a conservation area for birds of prey. Tricia and Michael have lovingly restored the house, cottages and buildings and the grounds are being continually re-landscaped to complete this pristine tranquil rural retreat.

At the centre of the property is a timeless luxury Farm house which is available for exclusive lets and sleeps 8. There are 4 cottages and studios by the Courtyard and 2 cottages on or around the grounds sleeping from between 2 and 6. The farm is a place where you can feel safe and be with yourself and your family in modern luxury holiday accommodation in the Somerset countryside. Some of their Somerset cottages are dog friendly so inquire if you want to bring your pet.

Most of the year they get enough eggs from the hens and ducks to share with their guests. There are some Indian runner ducks, which live in their own miniature Nunney Castle, complete with moat, a variety of quirky and charming bantams, an accredited flock of rare breed North Ronaldsay sheep, some pygmy goats and the ever friendly chihuahua cross poddle, Hercules.

The estate is made up of almost 60 acres that includes Shipperidge Woods, 5 acres of Ancient Woodland, mentioned in the Domesday Book and a Conservation Area for Birds of prey. Here you are free to explore and walk and enjoy the abundance of local nature and wildlife in all its glory.

A stream winds its way through the valley below and there are two ponds both teeming with wildlife. One has a small beach area and a summer house with a day bed that can be reserved for a spot of quiet inspirational creativity; the other one is near an old stone bridge that leads you on to the old drovers way.

Keep your eyes peeled for owls, red kites, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, deer, herons, squirrels and badgers. They even have a pair of otters at certain times of the year. And listen to the dawn chorus at its best in Spring and Autumn.
