Looking for accessible places to stay in Bath? Here are some of our recommendations, from city centre hotels to rural retreats...

Apex City of Bath Hotel

One of the city's newest and most modern hotels, the Apex has been designed from the ground up with accessibility needs in mind.

Choose from nine fully accessible bedrooms, each equipped with amenities ranging from wheel-in showers to emergency pull cords. Outside of your room, you'll find level or ramp access to all public areas of the building, with lifts, wide corridors, and an open layout throughout. Plus, if you're arriving by car, there are three Blue Badge parking bays positioned right in front of the hotel.

The Apex prides itself on providing a welcoming environment for all guests, with staff members receiving regular disability and neurodiversity awareness training, and the hotel offering dedicated quiet spaces across the building for guests who require them.

Despite being based in an 18th-century building, many of the hotel's public areas are also fully accessible, such as the patios, bar, lounge, and restaurant. Dishes in the hotel's restaurant can also be served to suit individual guests' requirements, and 24-hour room service is available if you'd like to savour meals in the comfort of your room.

Hotel Indigo Bath

This boutique hotel, based in a Grade I-listed building just a short distance from Bath Spa railway station, blends striking modern flourishes and the charm of its Georgian townhouse setting to create a memorable experience for guests.

There's plenty of substance with the style, too; the hotel offers three wheelchair accessible rooms, all featuring adapted bathrooms equipped with raised toilet seats, handrails, emergency pull cords, and built-in transfer shower seats.

There are also connecting rooms available on request for guests who require them, as well as kerb ramps to create level access from the on-street parking bays outside the hotel to the building's entrance.

When you arrive, you'll find a warm welcome, with staff members on hand to take your luggage and personally escort you to your room. Limited valet parking in a secure car park is also available at £40 per night and must be pre-booked, or you can use free disabled parking bays nearby using a Blue Badge.

Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort

Fancy more of a rural escape? Head into the glorious Wiltshire countryside on Bath's doorstep, where you'll find Bowood Hotel, enveloped in 100 acres of beautifully landscaped 'Capability Brown' gardens.

The hotel offers designated parking bays for disabled guests, with level access to all of the hotel's public areas, which are situated on the ground floor. There's a choice of two accessible double rooms, both fitted with large wet rooms, alongside all of the other luxurious touches you'd expect from a four star hotel, including a smart TV, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning, and even a homemade cookie!

Treat yourself to a pampering session at the fully accessible on-site spa, included in the price of your stay, where you'll find a swimming pool, treatment rooms, and gym. A pool hoist is available, but must be booked in advance.

If you're staying between April and November, you'll also enjoy entry to the neighbouring Bowood House & Grounds during its annual open season. However, wheelchair users may find it difficult to navigate the gravel paths and uneven surfaces of the park. While the upper terraces and some interiors of Bowood House are accessible via a ramp, its lower terraces and upper exhibition rooms are not accessible to wheelchair users.
