About

A beloved pub for locals and visitors alike for centuries, The Inn at Freshford was given a new lease of life in December 2025 when William and Marianne Cartwright-Hignett, from the neighbouring Iford Manor Estate, took over.

Passionate about community, hospitality, heritage and sustainability, their ethos is to ensure that everyone visiting The Inn can escape the stresses of the everyday. Allow yourself to be in the moment; savouring exquisite food and drink in stunning historic surroundings.

With Executive Chef Matthew Briddon from the award-winning Iford Manor Kitchen heading the kitchen team you can be assured of innovative dishes to delight the senses. Sourced from local producers, with much grown and reared on the Iford Estate, and made from scratch, sustainability is at the heart of The Inn’s seasonal food offering.

The drinks list is lead by Iford Cider, co-founded in 2016 by William with Joe Abbott and made just up the road on the Iford Estate - never from concentrate. Lagers and ales are mostly brewed locally in Wiltshire or Somerset, including the Two Valleys Lager which is unique to Freshford on tap - all alongside a carefully curated list of wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

The pub garden is currently being re-designed by the talented team at Iford Manor Gardens, conducted by Head Gardener Steve Lannin, and will become a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy a drink whilst taking in the stunning views across the valley.
