If a romantic break in a traditional property is what you are looking for, then you need search no further than the Saltings, a Grade II-listed, one bedroom cottage dating back to the sixteenth century.
Situated in the historic village of Batheaston, just ten minutes from Bath, The Saltings has an interesting history, just like the other four properties owned by John and Jane in and around the same private courtyard. Around 100 years ago, it was used as a place to salt the meat for what was then a butcher's shop on the high street, part of the same building and also owned by John and Jane. They completed the conversion to a high quality holiday let in 2011 and since then have had dozens of five-star reviews from their satisfied guests, many of whom return every year.
As well as retaining many of the original period features of the property, John and Jane have enhanced the buildings character through careful use of stone and wood to create a unique and very comfortable, character cottage, ideal for couples looking for a romantic or relaxing break, or a single person looking for a home from home and more.
There is secure car parking right in front of the cottage and with a bus stop right outside on the high street, the Saltings is noted by guests for its convenience. The bus ride to Bath centre takes around ten minutes, or you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the canal to the city. From April to October, a real treat is a lovely boat ride from the Bathampton Mill, just ten minutes' walk from the cottage.
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen area with oak and stone features combines tradition with twenty-first century technology, including under floor heating, and a state-of-the-art Smeg hob and oven. Luxurious under floor heating and lots of wood and stone provide a perfect combination of tradition and luxury in the bedroom and ensuite shower room.
