Visit Bath welcomed ten MICE buyers to the city this April, ahead of VisitBritain’s flagship MeetGB event.
Joining forces with Meet Bristol Convention Bureau, the guests spent three days in the region sampling all that the two cities have to offer in terms of meetings, conference and events facilities, plus unique incentive ideas.
A diversely international group, guests ranged from tour operators based in Scandinavia, from B2B Travel in Denmark to Go Slow Travel in Sweden, to travel trade organisations from the United States, such as HelmsBriscoe, and from the Netherlands, from FS Travel.
The action-packed programme started in Bristol, where the group were treated to a vineyard and winery tour at Aldwick Estate, a visit to Brunel’s iconic SS Great Britain, and a street art tour to spy some of Banksy’s original artwork, to name but a few of the activities on offer.
Stopping for photo opportunities at Pulteney Bridge and Great Pulteney Street, The Bath Brew House was next on the itinerary for craft beer tasting, followed by a show-round of the modern Apex City of Bath Hotel for some, and a look into the life of Bath’s most famous resident at The Jane Austen Centre for others.
After a wine tasting session at Le Vignoble and a delicious dinner at Koffmann & Mr. White’s (along with a show-round of the newly refurbished Abbey Hotel), Century Casino hosted some of the group for post-dinner entertainment.
The following day brought a tour of the grand Assembly Rooms and accompanying Fashion Museum, plus the historic Roman Baths, from Bath’s Historic Venues, followed by enjoying traditional Bath Buns at the Pump Room.
After a pit-stop at No.1 Royal Crescent for a glimpse of Georgian life, and a tasty lunch at Brasserie Blanc, part of the Francis Hotel, it was time for the guests to head off to Windsor for MeetGB, with train tickets kindly supplied by GWR.
Tamsyn Parsons, Sales Manager at the Francis Hotel, said: “We had the pleasure of hosting the group, and welcomed ten hand-picked MICE buyers from North America and Europe. It was fantastic to be part of this international business event, connecting MICE planners to some of the UK’s best suppliers."
An international events showcase for the country consisting of two days of meetings and networking between international buyers and UK suppliers, MeetGB took place at the De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor, with a focus on the country’s royal heritage.
Kerrin MacPhie, Head of Business Events at VisitBritain, commented: “We were delighted to work with Visit Bath throughout the MeetGB process, offering our international buyers the opportunity to experience the historic city’s extensive conferencing, events and incentive opportunities in a truly unmissable royal style.
“MeetGB has been designed with global buyers in mind to showcase the quality of the UK’s meetings and events industry, demonstrating VisitBritain’s commitment to growing the sector and leaving delegates in no doubt about the quality of our business events offering.”
