Three businesses in and around Bath have been nominated this week as finalists in the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2020.
Representing the best of the country’s tourism offering, the nominations follow the South West Tourism Excellence Awards which took place in Exeter Cathedral in February, from which the regional winners in each area were put forward for national recognition.
Many congratulations to the Bath businesses who have been nominated:
- The Roman Baths and Pump Room – International Tourism Award and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year
- Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa – Large Hotel of the Year
- Herschel Museum of Astronomy – Small Visitor Attraction of the Year
The above nominations are three of the South West’s 13 finalists (with 53 nationwide finalists overall in the awards), reinforcing the region’s position as England’s top area for quality for the eighth year in a row.
This comes following a record year for February’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards, with 773 entries into the Dorset, Cornwall, Bristol, Bath and Somerset, and Devon counties.
Robin Barker, from the South West Awards’ organisers, Services for Tourism, commented: “In what is an extraordinarily difficult year for tourism and South West England, it’s great to have this positive news to share.
“The success of these businesses – and the region as a whole – pays real testament to the innovation, passion and commitment of tourism across the South West and I pay tribute to every one of them. This year’s regional awards are also currently open for entry and I hope this news will encourage many more businesses to get involved.”
The upcoming VisitEngland Awards were to be held on 20th June, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have been moved to an online virtual event taking place on Monday 17th August.
