About

Bath may have its Jane Austen connections, but Georgian life in Bradford on Avon was far more colourful, and far more scandalous than anything Mr Darcy could have imagined.

The Bradford on Avon Georgian Tour: Wool and Waywardness reveals a world of immense wealth, sexual intrigue, industrial ambition, and social unrest.

Beginning at The Hall Estate, Bradford on Avon's iconic Grade I-listed Jacobean mansion, this immersive walking tour leads you through the town to uncover the dramatic stories behind its Georgian streets, riverside industry, and grand houses, alongside industrial heritage and rebellion.

A fully guided walking tour for lovers of Georgian history beyond Jane Austen, led by Andrew Kerslake, a former Senior Lecturer at Bath University and Professor Emeritus at Oxford Brookes University.

This is not a dry history lesson — it is a vivid, adult-only exploration of power, excess, scandal, and collapse at the height of the Georgian era, and a love letter for Bridgerton fans seeking the real Georgian world.

The tour involves walking up to one mile, with some inclines and steps along the route. Comfortable footwear is recommended. Dogs are not allowed on the walk.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in The Hall’s grounds either before or after the tour.
