Vale House Kitchen offers a Fish Cookery Course, perfect for those looking to build confidence in preparing fresh fish at home. While fresh fish is a fantastic ingredient in the kitchen, it can often be intimidating for those who don’t cook it regularly, with several pitfalls to avoid. This course is designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to create fabulous fish dishes, covering everything from sustainable sourcing to basic preparation techniques and delicious recipes.

The course begins with an introductory talk on how to select and buy the freshest, highest quality fish, along with guidance on navigating the complexities of sustainability. Participants will then dive into a series of demonstration-led cookery lessons, where they will master essential skills, including how to fillet, scale, and skin fresh fish, the art of smoking and curing, and creating mouth-watering quick recipes that make preparing fish at home a breeze. By the end of the course, participants will have the confidence and key skills needed to experiment with fresh fish in their own kitchens.
As with all Vale House Kitchen cookery courses, one of the highlights is tasting and enjoying everything prepared during the day, so attendees are encouraged to bring a hearty appetite. A delicious lunch is also included for all participants, and everyone will leave with a folder of recipes to try at home.
