About
Hattie Whitehead performs a heartfelt celebration of the music of Joni Mitchell, one of the most singular and influential voices in modern songwriting, hosted at Norton St. Philip Church, Bath on 6 June. The concert is presented as a seated, attentive listening experience, with a daytime matinee welcoming families and an extended evening performance.
Hattie is an acclaimed British singer-songwriter known for her rich, honeyed vocals and deeply introspective songwriting which blends folk and jazz influences, drawing comparisons to artists like Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. She has also spent several years fronting the seven-piece band Hejira who pay homage to Joni Mitchell's jazz infected material from the late 1970s playing UK-wide sold-out shows including performances as prestigious venues such as London's Jazz Café.
At the unique Norton St. Philip Church shows, Hattie will perform solo accompanied by pianist Chris Eldred for a more stripped-back performance to allow for the beauty, complexity and emotional depth of Joni's timeless songs to take centre stage. Hattie will perform a set of the Joni Mitchell's songs she feels a deep emotional connection too - from beloved early songs to deeper cuts such as Clouds, Blue, Hejira, The Hissing of Summer Lawns and more – as well as performing her own songs.
