About

Participants are invited to an 'Art from the Garden' workshop celebrating the sweet pea, led by professional gardener and artist Jacky Mills.

During this immersive day, attendees will explore ways to capture the beauty of sweet peas on paper using a range of pencils, pens, inks, and watercolour washes. In a small group of 12, the workshop includes warm-up exercises, contour drawings, notes on composition and sweet pea morphology, and plenty of freshly cut flowers to sketch from, along with numerous hints, tips, and guidance from Jacky.

Jacky Mills runs botanically themed art workshops through The Botanical Sketch Club and is a freelance writer and garden consultant. Her work has frequently appeared in Gardens Illustrated magazine. Having previously collaborated with leading garden designers Dan Pearson and Arne Maynard, she currently works with Sarah Price Landscapes.

Lunch

Participants are welcome to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am for tea and biscuits. A delicious vegetarian lunch, made with produce from the garden, and afternoon tea with cake are included. Any specific dietary requests can be noted on the booking form. Each participant will also receive a gorgeous bunch of freshly picked flowers from the garden to take home.

What To Bring

A range of art materials, equipment, and different grades of watercolour paper will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own equipment or preferred papers. Appropriate footwear is recommended for those who wish to explore Caisson Gardens after lunch.
