About

Enjoy a lively and entertaining afternoon of dramatic readings spanning Louis de Bernieres' internationally acclaimed novels, his engaging and life-affirming songs and poems taken from his poetry collections!

World famous author Louis de Bernières (Captain Corelli's Mandolin) and actress Emily Rose Smith (Goblin Market at Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sydmonton Festival) combine to bring you a charming, heart-warming and oft-times, humorous and satirical look at life and love via songs, readings and poetry. Louis' latest novel is Light Over Liskeard.

Also reading will be South Downs Poetry Festival director Barry Smith, whose poetry collection Performance Rites has been acclaimed by Acumen and Sentinel literary journals. Barry's latest collection, Reeling and Writhing, was nominated for the T.S. Eliot Poetry Prize. His reading is entitled The Comforts of Bath
