About

Jacques Audiard is arguably the best male French director currently working, with films like The Beat That My Heart SkippedA Prophet (both shown at previous FilmBath Festivals), and Dheepan on his CV. His latest film, from a script cowritten by Céline Sciamma, is one of his finest.

Set in the eponymous area of Paris, a very modern but also very classic love story plays out between four people in dreamy black-and-white. Along with Gagarine (also screening at this year’s festival), it shows the French capital as a place where dreams are created and pursued.
