About
Inspired by Maya Angelou's poem Phenomenal Woman, the Gainsborough Hotel launched a series in 2018, inviting women from diverse backgrounds who have achieved recognition and made significant impacts in their respective fields to share their experiences and the challenges they have encountered on their paths to success.
The fourth 'Phenomenal Women' guest speaker for 2024 is Hilary Salzman, who will be featured on Thursday, November 21st, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Tickets are priced at £15 and include prosecco and canapés.
Hilary Salzman is a business storyteller, writer, podcast host, and speaker committed to helping female business owners find their voice and confidently share their stories. She brings a unique combination of professional storytelling and marketing experience, alongside a personal journey that deeply resonates with many women. Salzman openly discusses her career's twists and turns, from working in corporate brand marketing to co-founding a marketing agency, and ultimately leaving a six-figure salary to build a storytelling business on her own terms. She intimately understands the challenge of being authentic in a world overshadowed by self-doubt and limiting beliefs.
Her debut non-fiction book, The Roar of Her Story – How To Tell Everyday Stories to Attract Your Dream Clients and Build a Business That's Unapologetically You, advocates for a shift away from the #girlboss culture towards a more authentic, fulfilling approach to business. It encourages women to set their own benchmarks for success, empowers them to make meaningful life changes, and provides practical advice on building a brand story that reflects their true selves.
Hilary's podcast, The Everyday Storyteller, was shortlisted for Business and Self Improvement Podcast of the Year at the Independent Podcast Awards 2023 and the 'Moment of Entrepreneurial Inspiration' at the International Women in Podcasting Awards 2023. She is a regular speaker on storytelling topics and a guest lecturer at Oxford Brookes University. Hilary resides in Wiltshire with her partner Tim, daughter Esme, and their golden retriever Charlie.
