About
Running from 26 May to 30 June, Queer Bath is a celebration of LGBTQ+ arts, culture, heritage, and history, brought to life in collaboration with Bath’s most iconic cultural institutions.
Historic venues across the city are opening their doors to reveal queer histories from archives and collections, offering new trails, tours, talks, workshops, exhibitions and more.
Event highlights:
- 26 May - Rainbow Family Community Day, the American Museum & Gardens open their doors to welcome all to enjoy the extensive estate and spectacular views.
- 2 June - Queer Georgians, Dr Tim Moore from Bath Assembly Rooms explores the lives of LGBTQ+ people in the eighteenth century in this talk at Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution.
- 3 June - The History and Legacy of New York City’s Stonewall Rising, a free fascinating talk to hear about the beginnings of Pride, which originates from New York City’s 1969 Stonewall Rising.
- 6 June - WIG!: The Pride NOT Prejudice Ball, a dazzling night of South West drag excellence-set against the stunning backdrop of Bath's historic Pump Room.
- 19 June - Sebastiane, a powerful screening of Derek Jarman’s queer reimagining of St Sebastian, introduced by Holburne curator Hannah Mills.
- 27 June - Holburne Pride Up Late and Pride Party, featuring live drag performances, creative workshops, a queer artist panel, and access to exhibitions.
Additional activities
The Holburne will present a Queer Holburne Trail and Bloomberg App experience, linking objects on display and in storage through queer themes and alternative interpretations created in collaboration with the Holburne Future Collective and Bath’s LGBTQ+ community.
