In autumn 1943, the SAS spearheaded the assault on Fascist Italy, clearing the way for Allied forces to land at Taranto. Simultaneously, a Yugoslav prisoner escaped from Pisticci, Mussolini's brutal internment camp. The SAS were involved in rescuing the inmates by hijacking a train, a successful mission kept secret for reasons that will be revealed in Lewis's latest book.
