Two charming arsonists talk their way into the home of Gottleib Beidermann and, despite the drums of petrol that appear, suddenly he refuses to believe he has made an error until the inevitable flames begin to take hold.

This German comedy, in a modern translation, is as relevant today as ever. What happens when a pompous, dishonest, greedy business man refuses to admit he's made a huge mistake and allowed two fire raisers to move into his attic? Why won't he throw them out even after they start filling his attic with drums of petrol and connecting a fuse?

This is a play about the stupidity of ignoring dangerous people simply because we haven't the courage to stand up to them and fight back. At the end of the day The Arsonists is a biting, satirical comedy about human arrogance and blind indifference to the threats we turn a blind eye to.
