About

It's May at The Living Room and Jools Scott is back! Jools was our first artist performing way back in February 2023. Despite recently becoming parent to twin girls, Jools is dusting off his piano to bring us what The Living Room is now known for: high quality, new music.

It has been three years since Jools opened the inaugural night of The Living Room concert series. That performance centred on Josephine, the deeply personal album written in memory of his late mother, who died in 2011. The work took eight years to complete — a slow and searching process shaped by grief, reflection, and time.

In the years following her death, Jools's music continued to find remarkable platforms. His works have been performed in St Paul's Cathedral by the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, and the St Paul's Cathedral Choir. Alongside this, he has composed feature film scores for the BFI, and a range of other projects, expanding his voice across both concert and screen.

But since that night at The Living Room, something has shifted.

Jools's focus has moved away from loss and remembrance, and towards something more immediate, more alive. His finest work yet has eight eyes and four foreheads: two boys and two girls. This new body of music has grown alongside the birth of his children — first his sons, and most recently his twin daughters — as well as his marriage to Annabella, a moment he describes as life-changing.

What emerges is a different kind of writing. Not a reflection on the past, but an immersion in the present. These new pieces carry the energy, chaos, tenderness and wonder of family life. They are rooted in love, shaped by sleepless nights and small, luminous moments, and held together by a quiet sense of awe.

This performance is an invitation to share in that shift — a revelry of love and life, and a journey into the tender heartstrings of parenthood.
