After months of planning, preparation, filming and post-production, Visit Bath are proud to have released an exciting new film that showcases everything Bath has to offer. It wasn’t easy highlighting all the things you can see and do in the city in just two minutes, but we have managed to fit a lot in! A great deal of energy and enthusiasm went into the making of the film, so we thought we’d give you a sneak peek of what went on behind the scenes.
Our aim in making the film was to challenge preconceptions of the city and demonstrate what a dynamic and contemporary place Bath is to live, work and visit.
Emily McKay, Senior Marketing Executive at Visit Bath, explains, “over the past few months, we have been working to show the modern, vibrant side of the city, and our new film is reflective of this work. The film shows off Bath’s history and heritage and its bustling and contemporary feel, as well as shining a light on some of the fantastic talent the city is home to”.
To reflect the vibrancy of Bath, we worked with Woven Films to storyboard a fast-paced film featuring many well-known locals and landmarks in quick succession. Faced with the task of squeezing so many scenes into just a couple of minutes, we decided to use a number of different creative transitions to ensure that the film flowed seamlessly.
Joel Bates from Woven Films says, “it was great fun working with Visit Bath to produce this film. It was an ambitious concept which presented many challenges, and was made all the more achievable by the hard work, support and flexibility from everybody involved”.
We are very grateful to have had the help of individuals who share our passion for Bath and some fantastic organisations who supported the project, allowing us to put our ambitious ideas into practice. The star-studded cast of homegrown talent, including Olympians, Bath Rugby players, celebrity chefs, a comedian and more, bring the many sides of the city to life.
Olympic gold-medallist Amy Williams says, “to me, Bath is home; it’s where my heart is. I’ve lived and trained in Bath since I was six years old, and there’s just a sense of peace when you’re walking around the city. I’m in love with Bath and am excited to be able to show the city off in this new film”.
The film features some entertaining scenes and we enjoyed devising with creative ways to illustrate the city’s alternative side. From DJ Danny Byrd spinning decks at the top of the tower of Bath Abbey to a kayaker barrel-rolling in the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa, local characters and classic locations combine to tell a surprising story.
So, you think you know Bath? Think again!
