Many of Bath's accommodation providers have eco-friendly policies in place, from towel reuse and recycling to using local suppliers. There are also some industry awards and accrediations which showcase the hotels which are going above and beyond in their sustainability goals.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Green Tourism awards are acknowledged worldwide as an indicator of good environmentally-friendly practice, and give a good indication of sustainable places to stay for eco-minded visitors.

One of Bath's most luxurious hotels, The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa has been awarded a Green Key for their commitment to the local community and protecting the environment - they even set up a dedicated sustainability team in 2022. Expect first class service, opulent rooms, beautiful gardens to roam in, relaxed spa facilities and locally sourced, contemporary dining at Montagu's Mews.

Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel
Awarded a Bronze Green Tourism for their efforts to reduce energy consumption and operate more sustainably, the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel's sustainable actions include reducing single-use plastic and installingelectric vehicle charging points. Stroll through their seven acres of beautiful gardens (quite the surprise in the middle of Bath!), take a dip in their indoor or outdoor pools, or enjoy a traditional afternoon tea on the terrace.

Doubletree by Hilton Bath
This 176-bedroom hotel has been awarded a Green Key for its reduction of single-use plastics across the hotel and introduction of carbon labelling on their menus in Emma's Bar & Restaurant, helping guests to make more eco-conscious choices. They've also introduced a Green Delegate Day Rate for conferences and meetings, where businesses can calculate the carbon footprint of your event and get help in offsetting it.

Hampton by Hilton Bath City
One of Bath's newest and most modern hotels, the Hampton by Hilton Bath City was awarded a Green Key and a Silver Green Tourism Award in 2024 for its commitment to sustainability. All guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, gym access and a hot breakfast buffet as part of their stay - make sure you try their trademark breakfast waffles!

Hotel Indigo
Set across several Grade I listed buildings, Hotel Indigo Bath's green credentials are as impressive as its interiors. The hotel has a whole page about its green programmes, and has also been awarded a Green Key. Some notable measures include eco-friendly compostable Nespresso Coffee pods in all guest rooms, and 100% recycled plastic (rPET) umbrellas for all guests.
Both of the restaurtants on site also champion British ingredients and small producers, with the menus at Brasserie Beau and The Elder guided by the seasons and local suppliers. The Elder in particular has a strong focus on wild, sustainable ingredients, sourcing ethical venison from Deer Box and fish from Cornwall’s Flying Fish. Dairy, farmed meats, and vegetables come from carefully chosen British growers,many of which are organic.

The Francis Hotel
Bath's grand Regency-inspired townhouse hotel wasd awarded a Gold Green Tourism award in 2024. They have partnered with Greenview who monitor their energy and water use, and have worked hard to reduce their use of pollutants and harmful chemicals both outside and inside the hotel. Guests can enjoy eco-friendly in-room products, such as bamboo toothbrushes and bamboo shaving kits.
Enjoy a luxurious city centre stay in Georgian splendour, and make time to dine at their grand on-site restaurant, Emberwood.

The Queensberry
One of Bath's quirkier luxury hotels, The Queensberry has eco-friendly measures such as replacing all possible cleaning productswith non-toxic environmentally friendly alternatives, and maintain their garden using rain water they've collected. The hotel recycles all glass, cardboard, paper products and food waste, and use naturally energy efficient LED lights across the building.
In the Michelin-starred Olive Tree Restaurant downstairs, chef Chris Cleghorn is passionate about sourcing his ingredients from local Somerset and South West producers.

Boutique bed and breakfast Brooks Guesthouse is part of the Green Tourism Scheme and is committed to working in a sustainable way, with reduced waste, conscious energy use and responsible sourcing. Their award-winning breakfast features Fairtrade tea and coffee, and organic yoghurt.

Abbey Hotel
Despite being one of the city's oldest hotels, the Abbey Hotel boasts the highest standards in environmental performance, social responsibility. The hotel is signed up to Green Tourism, and have pledged to reduce energy and water use, promote eco-friendly waste disposal, and focus on ethical buying, staying local and seasonal with their ingredients for the Abbey Hotel Kitchen and Lanson Champagne Lounge.

No.15 by Guesthouse
Let the team meet you from your train and whisk your bags back to the hotel in their cargo bike, so you can get on with exploring Bath! The hotel also uses locally-sourced and organic products, and limits their use of plastic throughout.

Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa
One of the country's grandest country house hotels, Lucknam Park is a magnificent listed Palladian mansion set in 500 acres of extensive parkland. On the grounds you'll find an award-winning spa, classically designed gardens, a Michelin-starred restaurant and an Equestrian Centre.
The hotel has a Gold Green Tourism award for measures including their reduction of waste and only purchasing from local businesses and partners that share their green values. They have partnered with Bath-based skincare brand the Natural Spa Factory and offer their amenities in all guests bedrooms and the spa.

Beechfield House
Stay at this glamorous country house to enjoy facilities including an outdoor heated pool, walled garden and arboretum.
The hotel recycles food waste to their compost heaps and reduce food miles by using produce grown in their kitchen garden or sourced locally. The hotel also has four EV charging points.

Bowood Hotel, Spa And Golf Resort
This luxury 4-star hotel has a bronze Green Tourism award, and the estate’s current custodian is deeply committed to sustainability. In the last 50 years, the team have planted over 1.2 million trees, offsetting more than 1,500 tonnes of CO2 annually.
They are also phasing out single-use plastics, currently source 50% of their services and consumable supplies from within 50 miles of the estate, generate renewable energy on the estate, and have installed four rapid electric vehicle charging points. The primary water supply for the PGA Golf Course is the estate’s private supply.
The estate's historic walled gardens supply a wide range of seasonal produce to the hotel’s Shelburne Restaurant, as well as flowers for displays in the hotel.
