Don’t worry about having to sacrifice your vegan diet when you visit Bath. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants offering delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes – here are a few of the best.  

Morso Vegan

You can either book in for a vegan cookery class at Morso Vegan, or check when their next supper club is taking place. Their dining events have a maximum of 10 people and are 100% vegan.

Dough 

You won’t have to give up the beloved pizza if you’re going plant-based. Dough, in The Corridor and on Kingsmead Square, pride themselves on their innovative creations when it comes to their pizza dough – it’s all in the name!  

Owner Emiliano Tunno really knows his stuff (he’s known as a ‘pizza acrobat’), and with bases ranging from hemp to turmeric and even seaweed, plus vegan substitutes for mozzarella, there’s no need to forgo pizza with a vegan diet.

Bandook

Taste your way around Bandook's extensive menu of Indian street food, from pani puri shots or veggie taco dosas, to small plates of tofu chilli, vegetable pakora, tandoori broccoli or a Keralan-style aubergine curry. There are also vegan options for their bottomless brunch at weeekends.

The Coconut Tree

Experience typical Sri Lankan hospitality and spice at The Coconut Tree, where a scrumptious selection of plant-based dishes await on the Roots menu. Pick and mix tapas-style plates such as gova mullan, pan-fried cabbage with onions, garlic, turmeric, black pepper and chilli flakes; vegan kotthu, a finely chopped roti with fresh vegetables; and the fragrant, warming fat sister pumpkin curry. 

As well as the vegan fare, it's worth a visit for the signature Cocotails infused with Sri Lankan flavours. There are low or no alcohol options as well as those with more of a kick.

OAK 

The secret ingredient in OAK’s recipes is passion – their visually and deliciously stunning meals are all created out of a love of vegetables and plant-based food. Expect tempting choices and exciting flavours, colours and details, and sit back and relax in the knowledge that everything is taken care of on the vegan front. 

Chapel Arts Cafe

Run by Plant.Eat.Licious, this all-vegan cafe does everything from breakfast pancakes to poke bowls, burgers and sharing platters of fries, nachos or pitta and dips. A great place to stop off after a busy day of shopping and sightseeing.

Olive Tree Restaurant

Bath's only Michelin-starred restaurant, Olive Tree has a nine-course vegan tasting menu which changes according to what is in season.

Pieminister

It doesn't get much tastier than pie and mash! Pieminister have plenty of vegan options on their menu, including sharers such as oyster mushroom 'calamari' with chilli & lime dip, crispy tenderstem brocolli or padron peppers with rosemary salt. The star of the show is the pies though, where you can choose between the 'Kevin' (chestnut mushroom, tomato, quinoa, baby onion and red wine), 'Mooless Moo' (jackfruit ‘steak’, craft ale & black pepper - also available GF) and new 'This Isn't A Chicken & Bacon Pie.

The Stable

Choose from a rangeof plantbased pizzas, including a classic Margherita, the 'Aubergine Kenobi' (roast aubergine, sunblush tomatoes, mozzarella, Parmesan, spinach, roast pumpkin seeds, chilli flakes, Yarty’s chilli oil, basil), 'Mushroom Magic' (Rosary goat’s cheese, roasted garlic mushrooms, mozzarella, tender stem broccoli, red onion) or Hakuna Burrata (plant-based burrata, plum tomatoes, roast aubergine, rocket, pinenuts, oregano, basil, garlic oil, Cornish sea salt). Pair your pizza with a local beer or cider from their huge selection, and on sunnier days take a seat outside on Kingsmead Square.

The Green Rocket

Popular with locals and visitors alike, The Green Rocket has won multiple awards for its informal and delicious all-day menus, with breakfast every bit as delicious as dinner.

Rooted

Nestled away a short walk or bus journey from the city centre in Newbridge, this cosy and family-run vegetarian restaurant has a comforting menu of favourites, from a full Indian breakfast through to wraps, burgers and curries.

For lighter bites, head to Chaiwalla for samosas and Indian-style wraps, or vegan cafe Cascara to try a range of baked goods and snacks.

Afternoon tea

Many of Bath's hotels and tearooms do a dedicated vegan afternoon tea, complete with sandwiches, cakes and of couse scones with jam! Some of the most popular vegan afternoon teas include those at Roseate Villa, The Pump Room and Sally Lunn's Historic Eating House.

Swoon on Kingsmead Square does a range of vegan gelato, Heavenly Desserts have a dedicated vegan menu, and Sweet Little Things have plenty of plant-based options, from vegan cakes to a fully vegan afternoon tea.
