Interior of the Marlborough with tables being set and the bar behind

About

It’s hard to beat the location of The Marlborough Tavern, a 200-year-old pub, just a stone’s throw from Bath’s iconic Royal Crescent: the perfect spot to unwind after a day of ticking off the sites.

A modern dining pub, flavoured with the character and charm you’d expect of its Georgian surroundings. Inside, the soft glow of the fire, local art, and gentle hum of locals at the bar create a warm, easy atmosphere that invites you to settle in with a perfectly kept pint or a well-chosen glass of wine. In the kitchen, British pub classics are reimagined with seasonal produce and refined technique, resulting in dishes that feel both comforting and contemporary. This passion for great food has seen them hold 2AA rosettes for over 15 years.

Their Sunday roasts have become a much-loved ritual or perhaps try some of their inventive small plates (think half shell scallops with miso butter or Korean-style fried chicken breast with a smashed cucumber salad).

When the sun is shining, the shady courtyard garden is the ideal spot for an alfresco lunch or a perfectly shaken cocktail.

FAQs

Do I need a reservation, or can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome but we would recommend reserving a table for dining during peak hours. If you are just joining for drinks you can just walk in.

Does the pub take group bookings?

The Marlborough Tavern can seat tables of up to 20 covers, although any booking larger than 10 will require a pre order. The maximum table size on a Sunday is 10.

Can I bring my dog?

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the pub, and the team are happy to provide water bowls.

Do you do gift vouchers?

"Yes, we do! More information can be found here."

Can I bring my children to the pub?

Children are welcome in The Marlborough Tavern. Highchairs are available on request.

Does the pub have a car park?

There is no on-site car parking. The closest pay & display spots are in Royal Victoria Park or Charlotte Street car park, both are a short walk from the pub.
