About

Step into the North Hall at Badminton House as we unveil a beautiful collection dating back to 1703 when the visionary Duchess Mary Somerset commissioned Dutch botanical artist Everard Kik to immortalise the extraordinary variety of plants cultivated in her gardens. The results, a breath-taking collection of 178 paintings, lovingly crafted by Kik and Mary's footman-turned-artist Daniel Frankcom.

For the first time in over 300 years, these exquisite works of art will be showcased to the public, offering a rare glimpse into the Duchess's botanical collection. From June 16th to 23rd and September 8th to 15th, 2024, visitors will have the opportunity to admire 30 reproductions of the finest paintings from the original florilegium. Additionally, guests can view the bound volumes containing the originals, steeped in centuries of history and horticultural expertise.
