About

Cardiff Opera is delighted to open its 2024/25 season at The Mission Theatre and to bring you its first opera by a living composer!

Based on Jane Austen's third published novel, the story of Mansfield Park follows the poor Fanny Price who, aged ten, is sent to live with her rich Aunt and Uncle Bertram at their grand country estate. Growing up in their family circle, Fanny navigates her way through the complications of love, loneliness, and rivalry.

After her heart-wrenching and powerful production of La Bohème in 2023, Katie Blackwell returns to the director's chair and we are also delighted to welcome Joe Davies to conduct his Cardiff Cotswold Opera debut. Combining Austen's timeless story, Dove's spectacular music, the quintessentially Austen backdrop of Bath, and, of course, Cardiff Opera's top professional cast, this is an event you won't want to miss!
