About
Early music specialists Musicke in the Ayre begin their 2026 season at St Mary's Bathwick with a deep dive into the beginnings of the lute song.
These early Italian and French songs – among the first ever to be printed with lute accompaniment – were the forerunners of the English lute song made famous by John Dowland later on – famous enough for Sting to record a CD of them 4 centuries later. Din will also play some lute solos of the period – two of the instruments used in the programme were made by him.
Refreshments available after the performance which will take place in the Church Hall.
£12 at the door, £11 in advance from Bath Box Office
