About

Mr B's emporium couldn't be more excited to welcome shop favourite Laura Wood back to Mr B's to celebrate the release of her swoon worthy new romance, Let's Make A Scene. Laura will be in conversation with Lucy Vine, author of the upcoming romantic comedy, Book Boyfriend.

An irresistible new romantic comedy featuring second chances and fake-dating celebrities, Let's Make A Scene is the perfect summer romcom, in which two stars find that though their story might be scripted, the chemistry is real… The perfect read for fans of Emily Henry, Beth O'Leary, and Christina Lauren!

Laura Wood is best known for her romance novel Under Your Spell, and bestselling (and beloved at Mr B's!) YA series, The Agency for Scandal. Laura has a PhD in nineteenth century literature, and lives in Warwickshire with her husband and their dog, Bea. You can find her on Instagram at @lauracwood.

Laura will be in conversation with Lucy Vine, the bestselling author of novels Hot Mess, What Fresh Hell, Are We Nearly There Yet?, Bad Choices, Seven Exes and Date with Destiny. Her novels have been published in seventeen territories, with Hot Mess optioned for a TV series in America. You can find her on Instagram @lucyvineauthor and TikTok @lucyvineauthor.

We're incredibly excited to be running a pre-order campaign for Lucy's upcoming book, Book Boyfriend, a hilarious new romantic comedy celebrating books and the people that read them!

About the book:

When Cynthie Taylor gets her first real acting job, starring in a small British movie, she is over the moon. There's only one problem . . . Cynthie's arrogant and annoyingly handsome co-star Jack hates her, and the feeling is definitely mutual. While they may be at war behind the scenes, their on-screen chemistry is palpable, and the studio sees an opportunity – have the two young stars fake a romance that will charm fans and draw crowds.

Thirteen years later, Cynthie and Jack have successfully kept their promise to stay far away from one another, until a surprising offer comes to make a sequel to the cult classic that launched their careers. But there's a catch: they must also rekindle their pretend relationship . . . and this time there's a documentary crew following their every move.

Cynthie and Jack both desperately need this film to work, but can two ex-rivals ever really trust each other?

And what happens when the roles they're playing start to feel all too real?

"I embarrassed myself giggling, sighing and crying my way through it, and couldn't
put it down." Lucy Vine

"Just delicious . . . a gorgeous love story with fantastic characters." Marian Keyes

"I fell in love with Laura Wood's writing." Julia Quinn

"So witty and smart. I am thoroughly under Laura Wood's spell." Hannah Grace

"Laugh-out-loud funny, unapologetically heartfelt and everything a romcom should
be." Catherine Walsh
