About

Glimpse a snapshot of New York's esteemed literary legacy in Bath this summer.

Hidden Gallery, renowned for its expertise in exceptional and rare artworks, is thrilled to exhibit Roy Lichtenstein's 'The Poetry Project Symposium Poster'. This remarkable artefact, dating from 1988, commemorates New York's acclaimed annual symposium, 'The Poetry Project'. Founded in 1966, the Project began as a continuation of the legendary coffee house readings that prospered in the city at this time, propelled by The New York School of poets and the Beat Generation. Lichtenstein's long-term interest in poetry, evidenced by his collaborations with renowned poets Allen Ginsberg and Walasse Ting, lent his artwork perfectly to the Project.

Lichtenstein's distinctive style has had a huge impact on arts and culture, significantly shaping the Pop art movement in particular. His artworks are housed across many major art institutions, most notably in his hometown of New York. Hidden is excited to offer customers the opportunity to take home an artefact from one of the world's cultural capitals, memorialising the city's most dynamic artist and poets.

Bath's celebrated literary history makes it the perfect new home for Lichtenstein's 'The Poetry Project Symposium Poster'. Do not miss the opportunity to see one of the artist's finest compositions in person. From June 21st until July 6th, this stunning artwork will be exhibited alongside extraordinary original prints from Hidden's wider collection, by artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Warhol and Emin.
