About

An Evening for the River – Talks, Film & Art | Presented by Grow Batheaston

Guests are invited to an inspiring evening of talks, films, art, and information sharing, focused on the health and biodiversity of the River Avon. This event will bring together wildlife filmmakers, educators, conservationists, and artists to explore what actions can be taken now to support the river’s ecological wellbeing.

The evening will emphasise the importance of allowing all species to thrive—including those invisible to the naked eye. By turning attention to the health of the river, the programme will invite attendees to consider how we might nurture this vital ecosystem and reimagine our relationship with the natural world. Should the River Avon be granted rights of its own?

The event will conclude with a screening of Balancing the Scales, a powerful film by the Beaver Trust, narrated by Joanna Lumley.

This evening follows the success of the sold-out Beavers Around Batheaston event held in June 2024, and is presented by Grow Batheaston in collaboration with the Wild Waters Festival, the Festival of Nature, and Batheaston Parish Council’s weekend celebrations.

Bar and refreshments will be available.
