About

For this summer's musical soiree, the Argyle welcomes a selection of outstanding local wind players for a variety of celebratory and contemplative music.

Inspired by the scenery of his English orchards, Gerald Finzi's lyrical style shines through his one-movement piano concerto Eclogue, with soloist Ana Manero.

The programme also includes Edvard Grieg's emphatic Holberg Suite featuring a selection of Scandinavian dances, and Richard Wagner's flowing and tender Siegfried Idyll written to celebrate the birth of his son. Percy Grainger's joyous Molly on the Shore provides a rousing finale to what promises to be a concert of musical fireworks.

Conductor - Adam Laughton; Leader - Roz Osborne

Tea, coffee and homemade bakes will be available during the interval.

Tickets: £10 on the door, £9 online in advance. Accompanied children admitted free. Seating is unreserved.
